Poster and postcard design for a symposium and workshop exploring what it means to care for the Florence Mound in Alabama. Due to the site’s cultural and spiritual significance, photography was restricted to official event promotion. To create an engaging and respectful image, I proposed an assemblage approach—using handcrafted organic textures and layering authorized historical and contemporary imagery—to evoke a sense of land and ancestry without revealing the full site. This strategy explored rising forms, subtle stacking, and tonal gradients to suggest upward movement and ongoingness, aligning with the project’s goal of fostering creative approaches to stewardship rooted in respect and sensitivity to sacred lands.
